At the beginning of January 2025, WES began implementing a project for Włoszczowa Water and Sewage Company Sp. z o.o., involving the delivery and installation of 5,500 smart water meters equipped with radio modules for remote reading throughout the entire Włoszczowa Municipality. This innovative initiative places Włoszczowa among the leaders of modern water management solutions in Poland.
Advanced technology for efficient water management
As part of the project, Itron-brand water meters are being implemented, working in conjunction with Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) communication modules manufactured by Manas. The system enables remote data reading via the GSM network, eliminating the need for physical visits by staff to collect readings. The data is transmitted to the dedicated Wes4Com web platform, which provides real-time monitoring and analysis of water consumption.
Current status of project implementation
Installation work is currently in full swing. The WES technical team is systematically installing the new water meters, ensuring minimal disruption for residents. Each installation is thoroughly tested to ensure reliable and accurate measurement.
Comprehensive implementation of a remote water meter reading system in the Włoszczowa Municipality
This project exemplifies a modern approach to managing water infrastructure. WES plays a key role as a technology partner and system integrator, responsible for seamlessly connecting all technical components into a single, functional ecosystem.
WES AS SYSTEM INTEGRATOR:
1. PLANNING AND DESIGNING THE ENTIRE SOLUTION
WES is responsible for developing the complete system concept: from technology selection and user needs analysis to the configuration of a system architecture that includes devices, communication, and software. At this stage, the WES team takes into account technical requirements, local installation conditions, and the client’s future development needs.
2. INTEGRATION OF COMPONENTS SUPPLIED BY DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS
In the Włoszczowa project:
-
Water meters are supplied by ITRON, a global leader in metering devices.
-
Communication modules (Aircom) and the proprietary Wes4Com platform, responsible for remote data reading, come from MANAS, a company specializing in utility metering devices and systems.
-
NB-IoT services are provided by Polkomtel, one of the largest telecommunications operators in Poland, offering modern data transmission services used in smart networks and remote reading solutions.
-
The complete server infrastructure is provided by WES, ensuring a secure environment for the remote reading system to operate.
WES ensures the technical and functional integration of these elements, guaranteeing full compatibility and reliable operation within the integrated stationary water meter reading system.
3. FIELD INSTALLATION AND CONFIGURATION
The WES technical team installs water meters with modules at end-user locations, focusing on quality, precision, and minimal water supply disruption. Each unit is individually configured and tested, ensuring accurate readings and reliable data transmission.
4. SYSTEM LAUNCH AND OPERATION
WES is also responsible for the implementation and configuration of the proprietary Wes4Com platform, which enables remote access to measurement data. The system allows the client – Włoszczowa Water and Sewage Company – to manage the network in real time, analyze consumption, detect failures, and automate billing processes.
5. TRAINING AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT
WES also provides full post-implementation support: training for client staff, technical documentation, as well as servicing and assistance with ongoing system operations.
